About this exercise

A resistance band biceps curl performed with the upper arm extended overhead, targeting the long head of the biceps through a greater range of stretch. Anchoring the band behind and above emphasises the peak contraction and improves the mind-muscle connection in the biceps.

How to Perform

  • Anchor the resistance band to a point behind and above your head
  • Stand or kneel facing away from the anchor point
  • Raise one arm overhead and grasp the band with a supinated (underhand) grip
  • Keep your upper arm vertical and stationary throughout the movement
  • Curl your forearm toward your head by flexing the elbow
  • Squeeze the biceps hard at full contraction
  • Slowly extend the elbow back to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side, then switch arms
