About this exercise

A unilateral lat pulldown variation performed in a kneeling position using a resistance band anchored overhead. The kneeling position removes leg drive and forces the core to stabilise, isolating the lats and upper back on one side at a time.

How to Perform

  • Anchor the resistance band to a sturdy overhead point
  • Kneel on one or both knees facing the anchor, far enough away to create tension in the band
  • Grasp the band with one hand, arm fully extended overhead
  • Brace your core and keep your torso upright
  • Pull your elbow down and back toward your hip, squeezing your lat at the bottom
  • Pause briefly at the bottom of the movement
  • Return your arm to the fully extended position in a controlled manner
  • Complete all reps on one side, then switch arms
