About this exercise

A kneeling abdominal crunch performed with a resistance band anchored overhead. Pulling the band downward while flexing the spine adds external resistance to the crunch motion, increasing the difficulty of the movement compared to bodyweight crunches.

How to Perform

  • Attach the resistance band to a high anchor point above you
  • Kneel on the floor facing the anchor, gripping the band with both hands behind or beside your head
  • Keep your hips stationary throughout the movement
  • Flex your spine to crunch your ribcage toward your hips, pulling the band downward
  • Squeeze your abs hard at the bottom of the movement
  • Slowly extend back to the starting upright position under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
