About this exercise

The band incline triceps extension is an isolation exercise performed lying on an incline bench with a resistance band anchored beneath the bench or underfoot. The incline angle places the long head of the triceps under a unique stretch, and the band provides progressive resistance through the range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to an incline angle and anchor a resistance band beneath it or underfoot
  • Lie back on the bench and hold the band handles or ends with both hands, arms extended overhead
  • Keep your upper arms vertical and close to your head throughout
  • Bend your elbows to lower your hands toward your forehead or behind your head
  • Extend your arms back to the starting position, squeezing the triceps at the top
  • Maintain tension in the band and avoid flaring the elbows outward
  • Complete the desired number of repetitions
