About this exercise

The Band Incline Palm-In Press is an upper-chest exercise performed on an incline bench using a resistance band with a neutral (palms facing each other) grip. The palm-in position reduces shoulder strain and shifts tension toward the clavicular head of the pectorals.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a moderate incline (30–45°) and anchor the resistance band behind or beneath the bench
  • Sit back on the bench and hold one end of the band in each hand with palms facing each other
  • Position your hands at chest level, elbows bent at roughly 90°
  • Press both arms upward and slightly inward until fully extended, keeping palms facing each other throughout
  • Squeeze the upper chest at the top of the movement
  • Slowly lower your hands back to chest level under control
  • Keep your back flat against the pad and your feet planted on the floor
