About this exercise

A resistance band chest press performed at an incline angle to target the upper portion of the pectorals. The band provides accommodating resistance that increases through the pressing movement, emphasising the lockout.

How to Perform

  • Anchor the resistance band securely behind you at a low point
  • Lie on an incline bench set to 30–45 degrees, facing away from the anchor
  • Hold one end of the band in each hand at chest level, elbows bent and flared slightly out
  • Brace your core and keep your back in contact with the bench
  • Press both hands upward and forward until your arms are nearly fully extended
  • Slowly lower the handles back to chest level, resisting the band pull
  • Maintain control throughout — avoid letting the band snap your arms back
