About this exercise

The band incline bench press targets the upper chest using a resistance band looped behind the back or anchored under the bench, providing increasing resistance through the press. The incline angle shifts emphasis to the clavicular head of the pectoralis major for well-rounded chest development.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a 30–45 degree incline and loop a resistance band behind your upper back or anchor it securely under the bench
  • Lie back on the bench and grip the band ends with both hands at chest level, palms facing forward
  • Press your back into the pad and plant your feet flat on the floor
  • Press both hands upward and slightly inward until your arms are nearly fully extended
  • Pause briefly at the top and squeeze the upper chest
  • Lower your hands back to chest level in a controlled manner and repeat
