About this exercise

The band horizontal Pallof press is an anti-rotation core exercise that challenges the core to resist rotational forces created by a band anchored at chest height. Standing sideways to the anchor, the lifter presses the band straight out and resists the pull back, building core stability and oblique strength.

How to Perform

  • Anchor the resistance band to a stable post or rack at chest height
  • Stand sideways to the anchor point, feet shoulder-width apart
  • Hold the band with both hands at your sternum, arms bent
  • Brace your core, then press both hands straight out in front of you until your arms are fully extended
  • Hold the extended position for a moment, resisting the band's pull to rotate you
  • Slowly return your hands to your chest under control
  • Complete all reps on one side, then turn around and repeat on the other side
