About this exercise

The band bicycle crunch adds resistance to the classic bicycle crunch by looping a band around the feet, increasing the challenge on the abs and obliques. The alternating rotation and leg drive make it an effective exercise for developing core rotational strength and muscular endurance.

How to Perform

  • Loop the resistance band around both feet and lie flat on your back
  • Place your hands behind your head and lift your shoulders off the floor
  • Bring your right knee toward your chest while extending your left leg out
  • Rotate your upper body so your left elbow moves toward your right knee
  • Switch sides by extending the right leg and bringing the left knee in while rotating the opposite elbow toward it
  • Continue alternating sides in a smooth, controlled pedaling motion
  • Keep your lower back pressed toward the floor throughout the movement
