About this exercise

The band bent-over row is a back exercise performed in a hip-hinged position with a resistance band. It targets the lats, rhomboids, and rear delts, and is a beginner-friendly alternative to barbell or dumbbell rows that can be done anywhere.

How to Perform

  • Stand on the center of a resistance band with feet hip-width apart
  • Hold one end in each hand and hinge forward at the hips until your torso is roughly parallel to the floor
  • Keep your back flat, knees slightly bent, and core braced
  • Let your arms hang straight down with the band taut
  • Drive your elbows back and up, squeezing your shoulder blades together as you row
  • Pull until your hands reach your lower ribs
  • Lower your arms in a controlled manner back to the starting position
