About this exercise

The band bent-over reverse fly is a rear-delt isolation exercise performed chest-supported on an incline bench with a resistance band anchored below. Lying face-down on the pad, you let your arms hang toward the floor and raise them out to the sides in a wide arc, squeezing the shoulder blades together. The chest support keeps the torso fixed so the posterior deltoids and upper back do the work without swinging.

How to Perform

  • Anchor the resistance band at the base of an incline bench and grab a handle in each hand
  • Lie face-down (chest-supported) on the bench pad with your torso against the incline
  • Let both arms hang straight down toward the floor, with a slight bend in the elbows and light tension on the band
  • Raise both arms out to the sides in a wide arc, leading with the elbows and squeezing the shoulder blades together
  • Hold briefly at the top when your arms are spread wide and level with your torso
  • Lower your arms back down toward the floor slowly and under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
