About this exercise

A resistance band exercise performed in a bent-over hip-hinge position that targets the rear deltoids and upper back. The band provides constant tension throughout the movement, making it an effective isolation tool for the posterior shoulder muscles.

How to Perform

  • Stand on the middle of a resistance band with feet hip-width apart, holding one end in each hand
  • Hinge forward at the hips until your torso is roughly parallel to the floor, maintaining a neutral spine
  • Let your arms hang down with a slight bend at the elbows, palms facing each other
  • Raise both arms out to the sides in a wide arc until they are level with your shoulders
  • Squeeze the rear deltoids and upper back at the top of the movement
