About this exercise

A standing rotational mobility exercise performed on an unstable balance plate, combining core and oblique activation with proprioceptive challenge. The unstable surface intensifies the demand on stabilising muscles while the twist trains waist rotation.

How to Perform

  • Place the balance plate on a flat, non-slip surface and step onto the centre with both feet hip-width apart
  • Stand tall with a slight knee bend, arms extended in front of you at chest height
  • Brace your core and fix your gaze forward
  • Exhale and rotate your torso to one side, keeping your hips as still as possible
  • Pause briefly at end range, maintaining balance on the plate
  • Inhale and return to centre
