About this exercise

The Backward-Forward Turn to Side Neck Stretch is a multi-directional neck mobility routine performed from a standing or seated position. Moving the head through extension, flexion, and lateral rotation releases tension throughout the cervical muscles and improves overall neck range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Sit or stand tall with your spine neutral and shoulders relaxed
  • Slowly tilt your head backward, looking up toward the ceiling, and hold for 5–10 seconds
  • Return to neutral, then slowly lower your chin toward your chest, and hold for 5–10 seconds
  • Return to neutral, then gently rotate your head to look over one shoulder as far as comfortable
  • Hold the rotated position for 5–10 seconds, then return to neutral and rotate to the other side
  • Keep all movements slow and controlled, never forcing the stretch
