About this exercise

A dynamic upper-back stretch where you wrap both arms around your torso as if hugging yourself, then open them wide to slap the upper back. The movement alternates between compression and opening to relieve tension in the lats and rhomboids.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright with feet shoulder-width apart and arms extended to your sides
  • Swing both arms forward and cross them across your chest, wrapping them around your torso as far as possible
  • Gently slap or pat your upper back with your hands to deepen the stretch
  • Hold briefly, feeling the stretch across your upper back
  • Open your arms wide back to the starting position
  • Repeat the wrapping motion for the desired duration
