EasyUpper chestMiddle chest

About this exercise

A passive thoracic and chest-opening stretch performed by draping the upper back over a flat bench. The bench acts as a fulcrum, allowing gravity to gently extend the spine and open the chest and shoulder girdle. Regular practice helps counteract rounded posture from prolonged sitting.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor in front of a flat bench with your back facing it
  • Lean back and position your mid-to-upper back across the edge of the bench
  • Allow your head, shoulders, and arms to relax and drop toward the floor
  • Extend your arms out to the sides or overhead for a deeper chest opening
  • Breathe slowly and let gravity deepen the stretch with each exhale
  • Hold the position for the prescribed duration, then carefully sit up
