About this exercise

The Atomic Sit-Up is a compound core exercise that combines a full sit-up with a simultaneous knee tuck, engaging both the upper and lower abdominals in one explosive movement. It challenges core stability and hip flexor strength throughout the full range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with legs extended and arms overhead or at your sides
  • Simultaneously raise your torso into a sit-up while drawing your knees toward your chest
  • Reach your hands toward your shins at the top of the movement
  • Hold the contracted position briefly, squeezing your abs
  • Slowly lower your torso and extend your legs back to the starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
