MediumGlutesQuadriceps

About this exercise

A unilateral variation of the leg press performed on a machine using one leg at a time, allowing assistance from the free leg or rails when needed. It effectively targets the quads and glutes while helping correct strength imbalances between sides.

How to Perform

  • Set the leg press machine to an appropriate weight and sit back firmly against the backrest
  • Place one foot in the center of the platform, positioning the other leg free to the side
  • Release the safety handles and lower the platform by bending your knee toward your chest
  • Stop when your knee reaches roughly a 90-degree angle without letting the lower back lift off the pad
  • Push the platform back up through your heel until the leg is nearly extended, avoiding a full knee lock
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching to the opposite leg
