About this exercise

A stretch performed against a wall or support surface that targets the biceps and anterior shoulder. By placing the palm flat on the support and rotating the body away, the elbow flexors and front of the shoulder are lengthened effectively.

How to Perform

  • Stand beside a wall or sturdy support and place one palm flat on the surface at shoulder height, arm fully extended
  • Keep the elbow straight and fingers pointing sideways or slightly backward
  • Slowly rotate your body away from the support until you feel a stretch across the bicep and front of the shoulder
  • Hold the position, breathing steadily
  • Return to the start, then switch sides and repeat
