About this exercise

A full sit-up performed with both arms extended overhead throughout the movement, which shifts the center of gravity backward and increases the demand on the abdominal muscles. The overhead arm position also engages the core through a longer range of motion than a standard sit-up.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor
  • Extend both arms straight overhead, keeping them in line with your torso
  • Engage your core and curl all the way up until your torso is upright, letting your arms sweep forward
  • Reach forward with your hands at the top of the movement
  • Slowly lower back down, returning your arms overhead as you descend
