About this exercise

A kneeling stretch performed in a forward-bow position with the arms clasped behind the back, opening up the chest and anterior shoulders. Gravity assists the stretch as you lower your torso toward the floor with your hands interlocked behind you.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on the floor with your knees hip-width apart and sit back toward your heels
  • Clasp your hands together behind your lower back
  • Hinge forward at the hips, lowering your chest toward the floor
  • Allow your clasped arms to rise naturally away from your back as your chest descends
  • Hold the stretch and breathe steadily, relaxing your chest and shoulders with each exhale
  • Slowly return to the upright kneeling position to release
