About this exercise

A dynamic mobility drill that combines large arm circles with a backward step to loosen the shoulder joints and improve range of motion in the deltoids. Commonly used as a warm-up, the movement promotes blood flow through the shoulder girdle and prepares the upper body for more demanding exercises.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet hip-width apart and arms relaxed at your sides
  • Step one foot back into a comfortable split stance
  • Begin making large, controlled backward circles with both arms simultaneously
  • Keep the circles smooth and progressively increase the range of motion
  • After several circles, reverse the direction and perform forward circles
  • Return to the starting position and step the other foot back to repeat
  • Continue alternating sides for the desired number of reps or duration
