About this exercise

A corrective mobility drill targeting the ankle's plantar flexion range of motion — the ability to point the foot and toes downward away from the shin. Adequate plantar flexion supports calf strength, balance, and overall lower-leg function.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor or a chair with your foot relaxed in front of you
  • Slowly point your foot and toes downward as far as possible, fully plantar flexing the ankle
  • Hold the end range for 2–3 seconds to accumulate mobility
  • Slowly return to the neutral position with control
  • Repeat for the prescribed number of repetitions, then switch to the other foot
