About this exercise

The animal resting yoga pose is a restorative floor position that gently stretches the lower back, glutes, and hips. Inspired by the natural resting postures of animals, the pose allows the body to decompress and release tension through a relaxed, held position.

How to Perform

  • Begin on all fours with your hands under your shoulders and knees under your hips
  • Slowly lower your hips back toward your heels, allowing your torso to fold forward
  • Extend your arms forward on the floor or rest them alongside your body
  • Let your forehead rest gently on the floor or a folded mat
  • Breathe deeply and allow your lower back and hips to relax with each exhale
  • Hold the position for the desired duration, then gently press up to release
