Side Adductors Stretch

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Side Adductors Stretch.

EasyInner thighs

About this exercise

The Adductors Stretch in the Coronal Plane targets the inner thigh muscles through a side-lunge or lateral leg-extension position, elongating the adductors along the side-to-side axis of movement. This frontal-plane orientation provides a distinct stretch stimulus compared to sagittal variants, reaching fibres that run more vertically along the inner thigh.

How to Perform

  • Stand with your feet wider than shoulder-width apart, toes pointing forward or slightly outward
  • Shift your weight to one side by bending that knee while keeping the opposite leg straight
  • Lower your hips toward the bent-knee side until you feel a stretch along the inner thigh of the straight leg
  • Keep both feet flat on the floor and your torso upright throughout the movement
  • Hold the stretch position, breathing deeply to relax into a greater range of motion
  • Push back to the centre and repeat on the other side
