About this exercise

A floor exercise that targets the obliques by lying on your back with hips and knees bent to 90 degrees and feet flat against a wall, then alternately reaching each hand toward the same-side heel. The fixed leg position against the wall stabilises the lower body and isolates the lateral core.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back close to a wall with your hips and knees bent to 90 degrees and feet flat against the wall
  • Place both hands flat beside your body with palms facing down
  • Lift your shoulder blades slightly off the floor and keep your chin tucked
  • Reach your right hand down toward your right heel by laterally flexing your torso to the right
  • Return to centre and immediately reach your left hand toward your left heel
  • Continue alternating sides in a controlled rhythm
  • Keep your lower back pressed toward the floor throughout
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions per side
