About this exercise

A plyometric variation of the mountain climber where both feet hop out wide simultaneously before hopping back to the center, elevating the cardiovascular demand while working the core, glutes, and hip abductors. The explosive wide hop challenges coordination and lateral hip strength.

How to Perform

  • Brace your core and keep your body in a straight line from head to heels
  • Explosively hop both feet out wide to the sides at the same time
  • Land softly with your feet wider than shoulder width, keeping your hips level
  • Immediately hop both feet back together to the center plank position
