About this exercise

The Weighted Front Raise is a shoulder isolation exercise performed by lifting a weight plate straight out in front of the body to shoulder height. It primarily targets the anterior deltoid, with secondary engagement of the lateral deltoid and core stabilizers. This exercise builds shoulder strength and definition.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a weight plate with both hands at thigh level using a neutral grip
  • Brace your core and keep a slight bend in your elbows throughout the movement
  • Raise the plate forward and upward in a controlled arc until your arms are parallel to the floor (shoulder height)
  • Pause briefly at the top, feeling the contraction in your front deltoids
  • Slowly lower the plate back to the starting position in a controlled manner
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
