About this exercise

A dynamic lower-body exercise in which you step forward into a lunge, then bring your rear foot forward to take the next step rather than returning to the start. Walking lunges train the quadriceps, glutes, and hamstrings while also challenging balance, coordination, and core stability.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet together and hands on your hips or at your sides
  • Step forward with your right foot, lowering your hips until both knees form roughly 90-degree angles
  • Keep your front knee over your ankle and your torso upright
  • Drive through your front heel to rise, bringing your left foot forward to meet the right
  • Without pausing, step forward with the left foot into the next lunge
