About this exercise

The twisting knee up is a standing plyometric exercise that combines a high knee raise with a torso rotation, targeting the obliques and hip flexors while improving coordination. The rotational element increases the anti-rotation demand on the core compared to a standard knee raise.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet hip-width apart and arms slightly raised in front of you
  • Lift your right knee toward your chest while simultaneously rotating your torso to the right
  • At the top, your left elbow should meet or approach your right knee
  • Lower your foot back to the ground in a controlled manner
  • Lift your left knee while rotating your torso to the left, bringing your right elbow toward your left knee
  • Alternate sides in a rhythmic, controlled motion
  • Keep your core braced and maintain an upright posture throughout
