About this exercise

A bodyweight rotational movement that combines a twisting hip drive, a pivoting turn, and an upward lifting motion to train oblique power, core coordination, and multi-planar functional strength.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and arms extended in front of you at waist height
  • Rotate your torso and hips to one side, loading the obliques as you pivot on your back foot
  • Drive through the planted foot and twist your torso back toward center with force
  • Continue the rotation to the opposite side while simultaneously sweeping your arms upward in a diagonal lift pattern
  • Control the deceleration at the end of the lift
  • Return to the starting position and repeat for the prescribed reps, then switch the leading direction
