About this exercise

A balance and proprioception drill that mimics walking along a tight rope by placing each foot directly in front of the other in a straight line. It trains ankle stability, calf engagement, and overall body balance.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with arms extended to the sides for balance
  • Step forward, placing your right foot directly in front of your left so the heel touches the toes
  • Shift your weight onto the front foot and bring the back foot forward in the same heel-to-toe fashion
  • Keep your gaze fixed on a point ahead to assist balance
  • Maintain an upright posture with a braced core throughout
  • Continue walking forward for the prescribed distance or time, then walk back
