About this exercise

Switching hops are a plyometric cardio exercise where you hop from one foot to the other in quick succession, landing softly and absorbing each impact through the ankle, knee, and hip. The continuous alternating pattern develops leg power, coordination, and cardiovascular endurance.

How to Perform

  • Stand on your right foot with a slight bend in the knee and your left foot lifted
  • Hop laterally or forward off your right foot and land on your left foot
  • Absorb the landing by bending the knee and immediately hop back to the right foot
  • Continue switching feet in a quick, rhythmic pattern
  • Keep your core engaged and your torso upright throughout
  • Land softly each time with your knee slightly bent to protect the joint
