About this exercise

A bodyweight pressing exercise performed using a suspension trainer or gymnastic rings, with the body held at an angle to the floor. The instability of the straps engages the chest, triceps, and core more intensely than a standard push-up.

How to Perform

  • Set the suspension straps to mid-length — the more horizontal your body, the harder the exercise
  • Stand facing away from the anchor point and grip one handle in each hand, palms facing down
  • Walk your feet back until your body forms a diagonal line from head to heels
  • Keep your core and glutes tight to maintain a rigid plank position
  • Bend your elbows and lower your chest toward the handles, controlling the movement
  • Press back up powerfully until your arms are fully extended
  • Avoid letting the straps swing or flare outward during the press

About the TRX Chest Press

The TRX Chest Press is a foundational movement that builds strength and muscle through controlled, progressive overload. Train it 1 to 2 times per week with 3 to 5 working sets per session, gradually adding weight or reps as form holds up.
