About this exercise

The Suspension Pike is a core exercise performed with your feet secured in suspension straps. Piking the hips upward from a plank position creates intense demand on the abdominals and hip flexors while requiring shoulder stability to maintain control of the unstable surface.

How to Perform

  • Set the suspension straps at ankle height and place your feet into the foot cradles
  • Assume a high plank position with hands directly beneath your shoulders, body straight
  • Keeping your legs straight, drive your hips up toward the ceiling to form an inverted V shape
  • Pause briefly at the top, focusing on the abdominal contraction
  • Slowly lower your hips back down to the starting plank position under control
  • Avoid letting your lower back sag when returning to the plank position
