About this exercise

A prone stretch performed in a superman position that opens the chest and front shoulders by squeezing the shoulder blades together while simultaneously lifting the arms and legs off the floor. It also activates the lower back and glutes as stabilizers.

How to Perform

  • Lie face down on a mat with arms extended forward, legs straight, and forehead lightly resting on the floor
  • Simultaneously lift your arms, chest, and legs off the floor into a superman position
  • Gently squeeze your shoulder blades together and pull your arms slightly out to the sides to open the chest
  • Hold the stretched position for the desired time, breathing steadily
  • Slowly lower back to the starting position and repeat
