About this exercise

The step jack is a low-impact alternative to the jumping jack that replaces the bilateral jump with a controlled lateral step, making it suitable for warm-ups, active recovery, or beginners who need to reduce joint impact while still elevating the heart rate.

  • Step your right foot out to the side while simultaneously raising both arms out and overhead
  • Bring your right foot back to center and lower your arms
