About this exercise

A stationary lunge where one foot stays forward and the other stays back throughout the set, keeping constant tension on the working leg. The movement develops single-leg strength, balance, and stability in the quadriceps and glutes.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright and step one foot forward into a split stance, about two feet apart
  • Keep your torso upright and core braced
  • Lower your back knee toward the floor by bending both knees to approximately 90 degrees
  • Stop just before your back knee touches the ground
  • Push through your front heel to return to the starting split position
  • Complete all reps on this side before switching legs
