About this exercise

Standing Wrist Rotations are a simple forearm and wrist mobility drill performed in a standing position. Rotating the wrists through full circles works the surrounding muscles and connective tissue through their complete range of motion, improving joint health and reducing stiffness. The exercise is well suited as a quick warm-up before barbell, dumbbell, or gymnastics-based training.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright with your feet shoulder-width apart and arms extended in front of you at waist height
  • Make loose fists or keep your fingers extended, whichever is most comfortable
  • Slowly rotate both wrists in large circles in one direction, going through the full available range of motion
  • After the prescribed number of rotations, reverse direction and repeat
  • Keep your arms steady throughout so the movement is isolated to the wrists
