About this exercise

The Standing Hip Stretch is a simple mobility drill that lengthens the hip flexors and glutes by shifting weight onto one leg and opening up the hip joint. Performing it regularly helps reduce tightness from prolonged sitting and improves stride length.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet hip-width apart
  • Step one foot forward into a staggered stance and gently sink your hips toward the floor
  • Keep your back knee slightly bent and your torso upright
  • Tilt your pelvis slightly forward to deepen the stretch in the hip of the back leg
  • Hold the position, breathing steadily
  • Return to standing and switch sides
