About this exercise

The Standing Diagonal Grab is a chest and shoulder stretch performed by reaching one arm diagonally across the body and gripping a fixed support to open and lengthen the pectoral muscles and anterior deltoid. The diagonal angle of the arm targets different portions of the chest compared to a standard doorway stretch.

How to Perform

  • Stand facing a wall or upright support with feet shoulder-width apart
  • Raise one arm diagonally — somewhere between shoulder height and overhead — and place your palm or fingers against the support
  • Gently rotate your body away from the outstretched arm until you feel a stretch across the chest and front shoulder
  • Hold the position for the prescribed duration while breathing steadily
  • Release and repeat on the opposite side
