About this exercise

The Squat to Straddle is a dynamic mobility drill that transitions from a deep bodyweight squat into a wide straddle position. It targets the inner thighs, hamstrings, and hip flexors while improving overall hip range of motion. The flowing movement pattern makes it a great warm-up or active recovery exercise.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and lower into a deep squat, keeping your chest tall
  • Place your hands on the floor in front of you for support
  • Shift your weight onto your hands and step or hop your feet wide into a straddle position, straightening your legs
  • Press your hips back and down to feel the inner-thigh and hamstring stretch
  • Hold briefly, then step or hop your feet back under you and return to the squat position
