About this exercise

The Squat Mobility Twist is a mobility drill performed in a deep squat position where you rotate the thoracic spine, reaching one arm toward the ceiling while the other anchors to the ground. It improves thoracic rotation, hip flexibility, and overall movement quality.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and toes turned slightly out
  • Lower into a deep squat, placing one hand on the floor between your feet for support
  • Rotate your torso, extending the free arm straight up toward the ceiling
  • Follow your raised hand with your gaze and hold briefly at the end range
  • Return to the center and lower your arm back down
  • Repeat on the opposite side, alternating with each rep
  • Keep your hips low and your chest open throughout the movement
