About this exercise

The Spin Hook Kick is a dynamic plyometric martial arts movement that combines a full-body spin with a powerful hooking kick, targeting the glutes, hamstrings, and quadriceps while challenging balance and coordination. It is commonly used in kickboxing and functional training to develop explosive lower-body power and rotational athleticism.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and arms relaxed at your sides
  • Pivot on your supporting foot and rotate your body 180 degrees in the direction of the kick
  • As you complete the spin, chamber the kicking leg by bending the knee toward your chest
  • Drive the heel outward in a hooking arc, extending the leg through the target zone
  • Follow through and land softly on the balls of your feet with knees slightly bent
  • Reset your stance and repeat for the desired number of reps before switching legs
