About this exercise

The ski ergometer simulates the double-pole action of cross-country skiing, driving both arms downward against resistance to generate power and elevate heart rate. It is a demanding full-body cardio exercise that heavily recruits the lats, triceps, core, and cardiovascular system.

How to Perform

  • Stand in front of the ski ergometer and grip both handles with palms facing each other or slightly inward
  • Hinge slightly at the hips and engage your core
  • Drive both handles downward explosively from overhead to hip level, extending through your lats and triceps
  • Follow through until your hands reach your hips, then allow the handles to rise back overhead under control
  • Repeat continuously at a steady cadence for the set duration, maintaining a slight forward lean throughout

About the SkiErg

The SkiErg is a foundational movement that builds strength and muscle through controlled, progressive overload. Train it 1 to 2 times per week with 3 to 5 working sets per session, gradually adding weight or reps as form holds up.
