About this exercise

A dynamic lateral plyometric drill that mimics the side-to-side gliding motion of speed skating with exaggerated arm swings. It trains lateral power, hip stability, and cardiovascular endurance while reinforcing athletic coordination.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet hip-width apart and a slight bend in the knees
  • Push off your left foot and leap to the right, landing on your right foot while swinging both arms across to the right
  • Briefly balance on the right foot with the left leg swinging behind
  • Immediately push off the right foot and leap back to the left, swinging arms across to the left
  • Continue alternating sides in a smooth, rhythmic skating motion
  • Keep a soft landing and stay low throughout to maximize hip engagement
