About this exercise

Sit-Up Punches combine a standard sit-up with alternating punch strikes at the top of the movement, adding an upper-body dynamic element to core training. The punching motion engages the shoulders and obliques while the sit-up targets the rectus abdominis.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor
  • Make fists and hold them at chest height
  • Engage your core and perform a sit-up, rising toward your knees
  • At the top, throw a punch with your right fist across your body, then return it
  • Throw a punch with your left fist across your body, then return it
  • Lower yourself back to the floor with control
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
