About this exercise

The sissy squat isolates the quadriceps by leaning back and bending the knees, building strength and definition in the front of the thighs.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright holding a support with one hand for balance, feet hip-width apart
  • Rise onto the balls of your feet and keep your hips and torso in a straight line
  • Bend your knees and lean your torso back, lowering your body as your knees travel forward
  • Descend until you feel a deep stretch in your quadriceps
  • Push through the balls of your feet to extend your knees and return to the start
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
