About this exercise

The single-leg leg press targets the quadriceps one leg at a time, building lower-body strength while correcting strength imbalances between legs.

How to Perform

  • Sit in the leg press machine and place one foot in the center of the platform, the other foot resting aside
  • Release the safety catches and lower the platform by bending your knee toward your chest
  • Lower until your knee reaches roughly a right angle, keeping your back against the pad
  • Press the platform back up by extending your leg without locking the knee
  • Slowly return to the bottom position under control
  • Complete all repetitions, then switch to the other leg
