About this exercise

A lateral bodyweight squat variation where you shift your weight to one side, squat down, and touch the floor before returning to the standing position. The movement builds lower-body strength, lateral hip mobility, and balance while engaging the inner and outer thighs.

How to Perform

  • Stand with your feet wider than shoulder-width apart and toes pointing slightly outward
  • Shift your weight to the right and bend your right knee, lowering into a squat on the right side
  • At the bottom position, reach down with one or both hands and touch the floor beside your right foot
  • Push through your right heel to return to the standing position
  • Shift to the other side and repeat
  • Keep your chest up and your grounded knee tracking over your toes throughout
  • Alternate sides for the desired number of reps
